Summer Pie

I am excited to say that I have only been home for five days and I have already made 3 fresh strawberry pies! My dad is a professional chef - graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York - so anytime I want to make food I always look to him for assistance. Thankfully, he is always patient with my very poor cooking skills. He never ceases to amaze me with what he can make with so little ingredients and so little mess. On Wednesday we picked fresh strawberries from a local farm and mixed together some magic. We used my grandmother's recipe as a base, but added our own twist here and there. We had a shortbread cookie crust and a tangy, but sweet filling.

And with a cup of flour here, dash of sugar there, a twist of lemon, and drop of orange we created this scrumptious goodie. Strawberry season is almost over so go get some fresh ones today - that's an outing that's fun for the whole family - and make something sweet. Show me your creations via my Facebook Page or link a recipe in the comment section below. I can't wait to see! - CIao
