the story behind the ‘parenting’ series

real thoughts & feelings as a parent. this mini series of abstracts has been created using water, ink & handmade cotton rag paper.

there’s so much joy & love, wonder & confusion with parenting & we’re all muddling through together (unless someone found the raising a good small person step-by-step guide; send that my way if you did). also a note before you keep reading - i am in no way complaining about being a parent. i love my littles so much it hurts, but sometimes i feel like society only expects & wants to see super happy parents & that’s just not authentic.

we sometimes hide the realities of parenting; the frustration, bewilderment or fear that crosses our minds. these emotions are also completely valid & very much apart of the every day cycle.

this series shows my feelings (as best as i can create them through ink) as a SAHP. the curves & grace remind me of the beautiful, happy, tender moments that feel like they could last forever while the wild lines tell of my flared temper or scattered thoughts. the independent dots remind me of the loneliness that also sometimes rears it’s ugly head.

parent brains are scattered, lost, wondering, lonely, happy, elated & so much more. so i hope you enjoy these pieces. the creative process for these was a cathartic release that i’m proud to call my own. each is completely unique & will be available for sale starting may 1st
