a custom skateboard for baby boy

when a friend, who’s pregnant with a little boy, asks you to create custom art for a skateboard deck you never say no. this was such a fun & unexpected project. see how it turned out below

she first came to me with the idea of a stuffed bunny wearing an oversized hat with the phrase “little dude” & some vans-inspired check. i sketched a bit, trying to figure out the best bunny for the job & chose a bucket hat to match the cali vibes her nursery was giving.

while this bunny was adorable, it wasn’t giving enough punk so we shifted gears swapping sweet tender font for something graffiti-esque. shifted the hat from groovy to punk with a flat brimmed Vans cap. & chose a more vivid shade of blue to leave the baby behind.

once she loved the design, i used a specialty sprinting company to create the finished kid-sized board.

i can’t get over how it turned out. now I just need someone to teach me how to ride ;)
